Abhishek Bachchan Opens Up About Parenting Challenges and Generational Differences

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, proud parents of their 13-year-old daughter Aaradhya, are facing the challenges of raising the next generation, a journey they’re navigating with patience and introspection. Recently, Abhishek shared his thoughts on parenting and how the way children approach life today is vastly different from how he and his wife were raised.

In an open conversation, Abhishek reflected on how parenting has evolved, especially when it comes to how kids today view authority and question the world around them. He explained that one of the biggest differences between generations is the lack of a “sense of hierarchy” in children today. He said, “If your parents said something, you just listened. The younger generation is far more inquisitive. They want to know why—they’re not just going to do something because their parents said it.”

Abhishek’s reflections on parenting reveal that today’s children, including Aaradhya, are filled with curiosity and often ask numerous questions. For him, this inquisitive nature is something he finds “wonderful.” Aaradhya, like many children of her generation, is constantly seeking to understand the “why” behind things, rather than merely following instructions. “They want to know why, and that’s something I think is wonderful,” Abhishek shared.

However, Abhishek also emphasized that while parents may not always have the answers to every question, the best lessons come from setting an example through their own actions. He believes that children learn the most by observing how their parents live their lives rather than just being told what to do. He added, “I’ve learned more from my parents by watching how they conduct themselves, not just by what they told me.”

Even today, Abhishek admits that he often turns to his parents for guidance, especially when faced with tough decisions. “I often think, what would my dad have done?” he said, acknowledging the deep influence his parents continue to have on him as he navigates his own role as a parent.

As for Aaradhya, Abhishek joked that she has “50 trillion questions every hour,” which serves as a reminder of how today’s children are never short of curiosity. While it can be overwhelming at times, it’s clear that Abhishek sees this constant questioning as a positive trait, reflecting how the younger generation is shaping their understanding of the world.

Abhishek’s insights provide a fascinating glimpse into the changing dynamics of parenting, highlighting how children today are shaping their own paths by being curious, inquisitive, and unafraid to ask questions. His reflections also underscore how, while parenting styles may have evolved, some principles—like learning through example—remain timeless.
