Arjun Kapoor recently sat for an interview with Mashable, wherein he called Deepika Padukone an amazing woman and mentioned that the actress stood up for herself. Recalling the time when, back in 2014, Deepika slammed a female reporter for calling her wardrobe controversy a petty issue, Arjun said that he showed his support to the actress by standing next to her, which was part of following his culture and upbringing. The actor remarked that he didn’t need to stand up for her as the actress did it for herself, and that is the feeling of empowerment. Arjun can be quoted as saying:

“I think she stood up for herself, and that’s how you need to be. That is what feeling empowered is. I don’t have to stand up for her. I have to stand with her.”

Going further in the interview, Arjun Kapoor shared that it only looks good in films when someone tries to help someone physically. The actor further mentioned that back in 2014, Deepika handled the situation pretty well despite a line being crossed. In Arjun’s words:

“I think there was a line that was crossed unfortunately, and she handled it really well.”
