When further asked him if he got any money from Saif after coming home, the rickshaw driver said, “Woh toh wohi jaante hai. Hum baat nahi kar sakte. Humari koi maang nahi hai. Woh joh de woh theek, na de toh theek. Unhone joh diya humne le liya. (That is something which he knows. I didn’t think of any money, nor did I have any demands. And it’s not my prerogative to talk about it. I just took whatever he gave me and I am happy with it as it was not really about any money).”
However, a source has told ETimes that Saif Ali Khan gave Rs 50,000 to the auto rickshaw driver as a token of saying thank you to him.

Earlier, the auto driver had spoken about what had really happened and said, “He (Saif Ali Khan) walked towards me himself and sat in the auto. He was in an injured state. A small child and one more person was with him. Soon after sitting in my auto, Saif Ali Khan asked me kitna time lagega. We reached the hospital in eight to ten minutes”.
He had also explained, “He was bleeding from the neck and back. His white kurta turned red, and there was a lot of blood loss. I didn’t even take the fare. I feel good that I could help him at that time.”

Saif Ali Khan discharged from the hospital on Tuesday

Saif Ali Khan returned home on Tuesday with a bright smile, five days after surviving a violent knife attack at his Mumbai apartment. The 54-year-old actor was stabbed in the neck and spine by an intruder in the early hours of Thursday, leaving him with serious injuries that required both neurosurgery for a spinal injury and plastic surgery for the wounds on his neck and hands.

Saif, dressed in a white shirt and blue jeans, exited Lilavati Hospital with his hand bandaged. He waved at the cameras and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the tremendous support he had received during his recovery. As he made his way to a waiting car, accompanied by his security team, his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, was also seen at the hospital shortly before his discharge.

Mumbai police arrested the intruder

The Mumbai police had arrested the 30-year-old suspect, Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, a Bangladeshi national, who allegedly carried out the attack. Fakir is currently in police custody.

According to police, the accused had entered Saif’s 12th-floor apartment in the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building in Bandra with the intention of stealing valuables. The actor’s staff noticed him and confronted the intruder, which led to a confrontation. Saif, sensing danger, quickly intervened and restrained Fakir. However, to free himself, the assailant repeatedly stabbed the actor in the back, causing significant injuries.

Despite the attack, Saif managed to hold onto the intruder long enough to alert others. Fakir eventually broke free, fleeing the scene through the bathroom window—the same route he had entered. The actor, fearing the assailant was still inside, locked the main door before realizing the attacker had escaped.

Police later confirmed that Fakir’s fingerprints were found at multiple locations, including the bathroom window, duct shaft, and the ladder he had used to enter the apartment.

Fakir, who had been residing in Mumbai for over five months, was working in odd jobs and associated with a housekeeping agency. The police conducted a reenactment of the crime scene on Tuesday morning, bringing Fakir back to the building and to locations he had visited after the attack, including the spot where he had hidden and slept following the incident.
