Saif Ali Khan is recovering at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital following a violent knife attack at his Bandra West residence on Thursday. The incident occurred during the early hours when an intruder confronted Saif’s maid, leading to a confrontation in which Saif sustained multiple stab wounds.

After undergoing emergency surgery, doctors have confirmed that Saif is “out of danger” but remains under observation. The actor’s health insurance claim details, however, were leaked on Twitter, sparking outrage over the breach of privacy.

Saif is a policyholder of Niva Bupa Health Insurance, which confirmed the claim to Mint. The leaked document reportedly shows that Saif claimed Rs 35.95 lakh for his treatment, with Rs 25 lakh already approved by the insurer. The document also reveals sensitive details, including his member ID, diagnosis, room category, and expected discharge date of January 21.

Kareena Kapoor records statement to Bandra Police

Kareena Kapoor Khan recorded her statement with Bandra Police, regarding the attack on her husband and actor, Saif Ali Khan, at their Bandra residence early Thursday morning.
The statement was recorded on Friday evening at her residence in the presence of police officers.

So far, over 30 statements have been recorded in connection with the attack.

Additionally, the Mumbai Police has formed 20 teams, along with 10 teams from the Crime Branch, to investigate. CCTV footage from the Bandra area has been seized, and three suspects are being questioned.

However, no arrests have been made yet in connection with the incident.

Bhajan Singh Rana, an auto-rickshaw driver from Uttarakhand who usually operates at night, has opened up about how he rushed Saif Ali Khan to the hospital after a stabbing incident at the actor’s Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday.

Speaking to ETimes, Rana shared details of the incident and expressed his happiness at being able to save someone’s life. “Nobody called me, but I could hear the loud sound of a rickshaw, and a lady was coming toward my rickshaw. She told me, ‘Maar laga hai, hospital jaana hai’ (He’s injured, we need to go to the hospital).”

Rana admitted he did not recognize Saif initially and was unaware of his celebrity status. “I wasn’t aware that he was an actor, and I didn’t bother about that. I just saw a man bleeding and wanted to take him to the hospital,” he explained.

Describing the scene, Rana mentioned that a young child, about 7-8 years old, and another man were present along with Saif. On reaching the hospital, the injured actor requested immediate medical assistance, saying, “Main Saif Ali Khan hoon. Mera jaldi se treatment chalu karo” (I am Saif Ali Khan. Start my treatment quickly).

Despite not being questioned by the police yet, Rana feels content with his actions. “I feel good that I have saved someone’s life and was able to be of help,” he said.

When asked if he would meet Saif again, Rana said, “If Saif wishes to meet me, I will definitely meet him. If he wishes to give me a gift, agar woh unki khushi wali baat hai (if that is what makes him happy), how can I say no to him?”

The details were revealed from the FIR filed following Eliyamma Philip’s statement. According to The Indian Express, the family resides in a duplex spanning the 11th and 12th floors. The incident took place on the 11th floor, which contains three rooms: one for Saif Ali Khan and his wife, actor Kareena Kapoor; another for their son Taimur and his nanny Geeta; and a third shared by Jehangir, Eliyamma Philip, and another nanny named Junu.

According to a report by India Today, Saif Ali Khan sustained multiple injuries during the attack. The list of injuries includes a deep laceration wound on the right side of his neck, measuring approximately 10-15 cm. This wound extends from the back of his neck and mandible, across the right shoulder, and down to just below the laceration site. Additionally, he has a smaller laceration, measuring 3-5 cm, on the front side of his neck. Another injury noted is a laceration on the left side of his back, measuring around 0.5-1 cm. These details highlight the severity of the assault and the extent of the actor’s injuries.

As per the instructions of the doctors, Saif still needs some rest before he is discharged from the hospital.

Dr Nitin Dange who performed the surgery, updated the media about his health. He said, “Saif has been discharged from the ICU and has been shifted to a special room. He also shared that Saif’s condition is better and he can walk now, there’s no problem in walking. “Mr Saif Ali Khan is doing excellent and we made him walk, he can walk well, there’s no problem, there’s no much pain or any other symptoms, so looking at his parameters, his wounds and all the other injuries, he is safe to be shifted out of the ICU to a special room. Only thing what we have advised and the rules for him that he has to take rest for some time because of the wounds on the back especially which can have chances of infection and his movements are restricted for a week almost for the most important reason that he had an injury in the spine and which has been repaired.”

Reportedly the cops suspect that the intruder was known to one of the housekeepers working for the Khans and that’s how he gained access to the house without being caught on CCTV cameras in the lobby.
