The police have revealed that the assailant is a Bangladeshi national who arrived in Mumbai approximately four to five months ago. The suspect, who identified himself as Vijay Das, had been working as a staff member at a local bar. He reportedly attacked Saif due to financial difficulties.

After the attack, Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital by his son, Ibrahim, where he underwent surgery. During the procedure, a 2.5-inch piece of the blade was discovered lodged in his spine. The police have since arrested the assailant, who has been placed in a five-day police remand for further investigation. The court has ordered the suspect to be held in police custody, as authorities continue to probe his criminal connections and the circumstances surrounding his illegal entry into India.
