Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Files FIR and Sues Google and YouTube Over Fake News About Daughter Aaradhya Bachchan

The legal action stems from an ongoing battle to ensure that misleading information about Aaradhya is removed from the media and online platforms.

This latest petition follows an earlier order from the Delhi High Court in April 2023. In that instance, the court had already issued an injunction against several YouTube channels and media outlets for spreading misinformation about Aaradhya’s health. The court directed major search engines, including Google, along with social media accounts, and news websites to remove all content identified by Aaradhya’s petition as false.

The Bachchan family’s legal team argued that the YouTube uploaders involved in this case failed to appear in court, and as a result, they had lost their right to defend themselves. With privacy concerns at the forefront, the Bachchans are committed to ensuring their daughter is protected from the harm caused by the spread of fake news.

In its ruling, the Delhi High Court emphasized that a child, whether a celebrity or not, is entitled to respect and privacy. The court also highlighted that it is illegal to spread misleading information about a child’s mental and physical health. This was reinforced by the decision to delist 24 videos containing false content about Aaradhya, which had been uploaded on YouTube. Furthermore, the court directed the platform to provide the plaintiffs with the contact details of the defendants responsible for such defamatory content.
