According to Jaya Bachchan, the rising costs, including the GST, are making it difficult for people to attend cinema halls. She mentioned that single-screen theaters were shutting down, and cinema tickets were becoming unaffordable. She expressed concern that the government may be trying to wipe out the industry entirely.
