Kangana Ranaut SLAMS Kunal Kamra’s Jibe at Eknath Shinde: “Can’t INSULT Anyone in the Name of Comedy”

Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra is once again at the center of controversy after his remarks targeting Maharashtra’s Deputy CM Eknath Shinde. Kamra performed a parody of a Bollywood song, calling Shinde a “gaddar” (traitor), which led to a significant backlash. The video quickly went viral after Kamra shared it on Instagram, sparking fury among Shinde’s supporters.

As the video gained traction, nearly 20 members of Shinde’s party vandalized the Habit Comedy Club in Mumbai, where Kamra performed. Over 10 individuals were arrested in connection to the attack. Despite the controversy, Kamra refused to apologize for his actions, insisting that he had the right to satire public figures. He also expressed his belief in free speech, which he maintains remains unchanged, though he is willing to cooperate with legal authorities.

The incident has also drawn reactions from political leaders, including Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who weighed in, stating that while satire is understood, there should be limits. The latest voice in this heated debate comes from actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, who strongly criticized Kamra’s actions.

Kangana said, “We should think where society is heading when someone does this just for two minutes of fake fame. You might be anyone, but insulting and defaming someone for whom respect is everything is not acceptable.” She emphasized that while satire can be part of comedy, it should never cross the line into disrespect and abuse, especially in the name of comedy. Kangana also commented on the destruction of Kamra’s bungalow, calling it illegal, and highlighting the importance of respecting culture and people in the entertainment industry.

This ongoing controversy raises the question of whether Kamra’s remarks were just comedy or if they crossed the line. Is there a place for such humor in public discourse, or should it be checked for its impact on individuals and society? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
