Actress Tamannaah Bhatia finds herself entangled in a legal saga surrounding the unauthorized streaming of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. Recent developments reveal that the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has summoned Tamannaah for interrogation in connection to this case.

Previously, actor Sanjay Dutt was also called in for questioning but was unable to attend. He has since requested a new date to provide his statement regarding the matter.

Tamannaah Bhatia and Sanjay Dutt have been summoned for their alleged involvement in the illegal streaming of IPL 2023 matches, resulting in significant financial losses for Viacom, as reported by ANI. The summons require Tamannaah to appear before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on April 29.

Maharashtra Cyber took to Twitter to announce,

“Maharashtra Cyber summons actor Tamannaah Bhatia for questioning in connection with the illegal streaming of IPL 2023 on Fairplay App that caused loss of Crores of Rupees to Viacom. She has been asked to appear before Maharashtra Cyber on 29th April.”

Sanjay Dutt, on the other hand, was scheduled to appear on April 23 but was abroad at the time. He has since requested an alternative date for his statement, as per reports.

The legal battle stems from Viacom18’s complaint against the Fair Play App, accusing it of breaching intellectual property rights (IPR) by streaming IPL matches without authorization. Viacom18 alleges losses exceeding Rs 100 crore due to the unauthorized streaming.

Celebrities including rapper Badshah, actresses Jacqueline Fernandez and Tamannaah Bhatia, and actor Sanjay Dutt have been summoned for questioning in relation to the case, as reported by the Times of India. Additionally, an employee of the Fair Play App was arrested in December 2023 in connection with the matter.
