2024 like every other year saw celebrities make a whole lot of controversial statements. Here is a selection of the most controversial ones.

From Kangana Ranaut to Ranbir Kapoor

Bollywood is a household name and part of India’s cinematic hub, so no surprises when the headlines include a tussle over drama both on and off screen. Scandals that grab everyone’s attention usually put the celebrities under a lot of scrutiny as a backlash for the words they use, actions or even personal life choices. The year of 2024 was full of events. Whether it is about political opinions, personal feuds, or public behavior, Bollywood’s controversial nature keeps fans and critics on their toes, making it a constant source of entertainment and discussion. So, here are some of the most controversial statements made by some of your favourite celebrities.

Most controversial statements

Divya Khosla Kumar

Divya Khosla Kumar made some nasty comments about the Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina starrer Jigra. Posting a picture of an empty cinema hall after the release of ‘Jigra’, Divya wrote, “Halls are empty everywhere. Alia Bhatt really has a lot of heart… she bought the tickets herself and announced the fake collection.”

Karan Johar

Karan Johar, the producer of the film Jigra, is known for his wit and snide remarks. He indirectly responded to the Divya Khosla Kumar comment on his social media handle, saying “Silence is the best speech to answer fools.” Calling someone a fool without actually taking the name, pretty cool! Divya was sure to not take this lightly and posted “Truth will always offend fools opposed to it. When you are shamelessly accustomed to stealing what rightfully belongs to others, you will always seek shelter in silence. You will have no voice no spine.”
From Kangana Ranaut to Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor

At the 50th International Film Festival of India, Ranbir Kapoor found himself caught up in the centre of a controversy when he made a remark saying  “She (Alia Bhatt) asked me who Kishore Kumar is”. The netizens weren’t too fond of this remark and called him out for bad naming his wife.

Kangana Ranaut

Probably the only celebrity known more for her controversies than her acting, Kangana Ranaut has always been at the epicentre of social media backlash. In an interview with Raj Shamani, she said “Bollywood people are just so full of themselves. They are stupid, they are dumb, they are (all about) protein shake and that kind of a (life)”. Well, well!

Abhijeet Bhattacharya

Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the sweet voice of the country, may not always have sweet things to say. In one such interview with a journalist, Shubhankar Mishra, Abhijeet indirectly made a rude remark about Salman Khan’s hit-and-run case. He may have realised his mistake and went on to clarify, stating “Maine kaha ye jo hota hai…road par soyenge to ek daarubaaz aayega daaru pike gaadi chadha dega tumhare upar. Road par kutte ki tarah so rahe ho. To ek daarubaaz aayega, ek tharki, ab kyu merese wo repeat karwa rahe ho…”

Arshad Warsi

Popular for his role as ‘Circuit’, Arshad Warsi may have left a wire loose on his tongue.  He passed a snide comment about Prabhas’ appearance in the film Kalki 2898 AD, comparing Prabhas’ look in the film to a “joker”. It sure got him some backlash from Prabhas’ fans.
